thanks everyone, i'll pass along the kind words. i think hubby would say it was a good birthday, albeit extremely low-key. we ate steak, he made himself margaritas and we're going to bed early. us old folks get tired easily, you know. ;-)

Oh, you're not staying up late to watch McCain, eh? ;) No worries. His speech is sucking, and he mentioned 9/11 in under a minute.

oh tricia, i went all out! i got him a belt, an album by the drive by truckers, and a t-shirt from my daughter's college. it gets harder and harder every year, doesn't it? :) i did cook dinner, which isn't exactly a treat, but he appreciated it.
