Philadelphia's WXPN is hosting the Xponential Music Festival, a 4-day event to be held July 19-22 at Wiggins Park in Camden, NJ. I'm hoping to go Friday night. They've got a pretty good line-up of folks, surprisingly varied.
For instance, Friday I'm most interested in seeing three Philly-area bands, The A-Sides, Eastern Conference Champions, and Bitter Bitter Weeks, also Bob Mould (yes, I am), and Glasgow's own The Fratellis. It ought to be fun. (How cool is that image, btw?--it's moving and everything.)
Eastern Conference Champions--"The Box (Live at SXSW)" mp3 This will be on Ameritown, which comes out 7/17 (buy). Also, you may recall their song "Hollywood" was one of my top songs of 2007 2006.
Bitter Bitter Weeks--"Kings" mp3 off Revenge (buy) This is from 2004.
The A-Sides--"Diamonds" mp3 off Silver Storms (buy) Well, this comes out 8/28, so keep your eye out.
Blowoff--"Life With a View" mp3 off Blowoff (buy) Blowoff is Mould's current band, so we'll see what he does solo.
The Fratellis--"Creepin Up the Backstairs" mp3 off Costello Music (buy)
Here's hoping life and the weather cooperate so that I can actually go.
Ak! I've been scooped! The graphic IS cool, by the way. Am looking
forward to the Festival, although it sounds like we may be at different
stages. But then, it's a festival after all!
Cheers, WRE
Sounds like an awesome lineup..and I LOVE XPN! You know, last time I was
in my city of my birth, (last Feb.), I was in Tower Records on South St.
and saw a local bands display. The A-Sides had something in that display
and I was tempted, but I had sworn to hubby that I was not going to buy
music, so I walked on by. Enjoy yourself! I'd really dig the Bob Mould
appearance myself!
wre--i snagged that off an xpn page. all i did was "save image as" and it
came fully equipped to move around. technology i so cool. re: the festival.
things are such that i'm not buying my ticket ahead of time, just in case
it turns out i can't go. but i'm very hopeful that i can. is that ambiguous
enough? *argh* : )
The good news is that there's only one stage, aside from the Kid's Corner
stage, so if you CAN go, we're likely to see you there. It'll be like
reading 8 blogs for a month in 1 sitting! :)
Yep, born in Philly 50 years ago! LOL. My folks and 4 of my siblings still
live in the Lancaster area, since my dad moved us out of Philly about 2 1/2
years after I was born. (We did time in Indiana and Ohio for awhile, too,
then they moved us back to Lancaster in 1969, where they've been ever
since.)
Now, where's my soft pretzel?
I just listened to Cinematic over at Some Velvet Blog, and now I know why
everyone is so pumped about the A-sides! Sweet! It takes me a while to
put it all together. The good news about Bob Mould's breaking his ankle is
that we get more of the A-Sides, Cracker, and FOW on Friday. Should be
excellent!
