Where Can You Find Some Excellent Tunes? On the Contrast Podcast, of Course

posted Tuesday, 16 January 2007
It's Tuesday, and you know what that means. The new Contrast Podcast is up. I'm not in it this week, but only because I didn't have a good "Where" song that I either haven't posted before or thought folks weren't already familar with. That's my excuse this week.
In considering choices, my first pick would've been "Where Did Go" mp3 by Cassettes Won't Listen, but I just posted on that last month (see here). If you missed it, you should listen to it, coz it's an addictive little track.
My other thought was the classic (can it be a classic if it's only two years old? Why not?) "Where Does the Good Go" mp3 by Tegan and Sara. I love this song, and if you go here, you can read all about why and how it inspired me to get back into music again and start this here blog. Man, June seems so long ago.
And then of course, there's the Faith Hill cover of Carole King's "Where You Lead I Will Follow" mp3 but everyone's already got that, I'm sure. I certainly wouldn't want to be redundant.
So that's it. Those were my almost-rans. Next week's theme is "Stick to Acting," meaning actors and other celebs trying their hand at music. I promise to make a better effort to take part. Although if I were in it this week, it would've meant someone else couldn't have been, and then what would we be missing? The Pixies? or Ted Leo? Or Camper Van Beethoven? How could I live with myself knowing that I'd robbed all the CP listeners of that music by selfishly submitting a Faith Hill song? It's better this way, believe me.
OK, I confess. I'm doing a little experiment here. I'm curious to find out whether posting a Faith Hill song will affect my blog traffic in any way. I'll let you know in a couple days if it does.

Well, I wouldn't have bothered to drop by if you hadn't posted Faith... ;-)

Just pulling your leg. You know you're a daily read of mine, even if I don't always comment.

My plan to quietly fall in love with the person who submitted Teenage Fanclub's 'Your love is the place where I come from' to the contrast podcast was a miserable failure.

By the way, this is the first time I've seen 'Faith Hill' and 'experiment' together in polite context. Good luck!

If I'd known that Betty would have gone straight out the window in exchange for TF! ;)

Got an actor or 45 ready then Marcy?

liz--i bet you hear a lot of faith hill in your neck of the woods! i'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if my evil experiment worked. it's all about playing the hype machine game, you know? ;-)

tim--i thought the actor/celeb theme would be harder than it was but i was able to come up with a dandy! i got nothing for the 45s, tho. only lps at this stage of the game. i'm waiting to comment on the podcast coz i'm not done listening to it yet, but if the first three songs are any indication, i'd say it's "where it's at," man.

Hey, mjrc. Posting that Faith Hill makes me think you're really a country girl at heart. :) Not such a bad thing!

Of course, the Tegan & Sara is great. I will give up and buy something of theirs soon. But seriously, i'm still trying to get a post together on all the planet songs I have floating around! Haven't even had a chance to start the new CP...

OK, that's it. I'm going to make you a country mix CD. Granted, almost all of it will be at least 12 years old. I'll change your opinion yet.

Yee-haw, WRE

knock yourself out--just try to stay away from hardcore country like tanya tucker and tammy wynette! ;-)

all mp3s are for sampling purposes only. you like it? you buy it. you want me to take it down? let me know. and for the uninitiated, if you wish to listen to a song, click on the little blue arrows and they will stream. thanks, your host and music lover, mjrc.
