Oh I'm so excited! I got tickets today to see Devotchka at the Fillmore at the TLA in Philly on May 17th--want to come? They were expensive, but I don't care! I've waited a long time to see them. If you go to their myspace, you can see all their upcoming show dates. Their tour starts in Europe April 4th and they come back to the States April 28th and play all over through May. I can't wait!
The new album, A Mad and Faithful Telling, comes out March 18th.

p.s. I'm not sure when tickets go on sale to the general public, but because I'm on their mailing list, I got special notice and a break in the price. Pays to sign up for these things sometimes.
Ah splendid. They're playing through in Glasgow in a month or two and I
was considering dragging the poor unfortunate Mrs. Toad through to see
them. Or I could just go by myself. Have you heard the new album yet?
the only song i've heard is "transliterator," and based on that i'm quite
excited. i think the mrs. might enjoy it if only to watch dear nick do his
thing. plus the woman in the band plays a tuba as well as the stand-up
bass, so you can tell her it's not your ordinary indie rock band.
Congrats on nabbing those tickets! I'm also glad the long wait for that
new album is almost over.
linda, i was so psyched! the last couple of times they've been to the east
coast, they've only played new york, and then it was at midnight or
something, so there was no way i could go. march 18th can't come soon
enough for me! :)
So, does this remind anyone else of Love & Rockets + an accordian?
i'm not familiar with love and rockets off hand. but you're right about the
accordion feel. for the genre on transliterator (from the other day), it
comes up as balkan burlesque. they've got a real eastern european flavor
with a bit of mariachi thrown in for good measure at times. i love the
violin, especially, plus his voice.
