mjrc, your ideas for posts are excellent. I got this list by email, maybe
from the same mutual friend, and I have a trove of country songs I love,
although they're all about 10 years old now. They say imitation is the
highest form of flattery, so look for some imitation from me soon...
definitely comes from our mutual friend. she sends me some of the funniest
stuff. i don't know where she gets it. i've heard of alison krauss, but am
not familiar with patty loveless. i'm not really a bluegrass gal, either,
tho, so can only take it in small doses. i'm more of a patty griffin fan,
if you'd consider her at all country.
I'll put a post together for you on this one. Country can be great,
depending on the artist and mood. And I'm not talkin Shania Twain here.
PG doesn't seem country to me, but I've only heard the one album (Flaming
Red). Cheers!
If I ever get around to recording a country album I'm definitely calling it
"You're the reason our kids are ugly"
now that's a good one. : ) is country music big in the uk? hard to imagine
it is, but you never know.
I did see Willie nelson play here this year. He was excellent. Have to
admit im not a country expert. It tends to get passed off with all the line
dancing people over here. Used to share a flat with a line dancer (he drove
me bonkers)
line dancing, also not my thing. ;-) however, i recently heard a willie
nelson song that stopped me in my tracks. a cover of fleetwood mac's
"songbird," no less. i think i may have to post it, i like it that much.
people are really going to think i've lost my mind.
