The Reporter of Problems

posted Friday, 20 March 2009

When you see that something is wrong or broken, do you usually report it to whomever it is that could fix it? Or do you figure someone else will do it and just let it go?

I seem to be the person who reports things when I see them. I call if there's a dead deer or a big branch in the road. I email when there's something wrong with my stats or the hype machine is bugging out. I call the cable company or electric company when the power goes out. And just today at the gym, a door-stop fell apart in my hand when I tried to lift it. I could have just set the parts on the sink and let the next person deal with it, but I felt like I should take it to the desk and let them know.

I've always been like that. I guess it makes me feel better to try to do something instead of just passing it off to the next person. It could also be a little bit of a control issue. I don't like it when things aren't as they should be, you know what I mean? I'd much rather things be in order.

Sometimes.

But not as much as I used to ever since someone shouted at me 'I fucking well know...you're the tenth person to report that particular fault.'
