The Last Christmas

posted Thursday, 11 December 2008

It makes me kind of sad, but I have a feeling that this is the last Christmas my youngest child will believe in Santa Claus. She's 9, which means that she's going to figure it out sooner rather than later. *Sigh* I guess they all have to grow up sometime.

Erlend Oye--"Last Christmas" mp3 off Seasonal Greetings (buy)

The Revolvers--"Last Christmas" mp3

Jimmy Eat World--"Last Christmas" mp3 off Last Christmas/Firestarter (buy)

Yoshihiro Harada--"Last Christmas" mp3 off Moisture Presents "Steelpan Christmas" (buy)

Sugarcube Inc.--"Last Christmas (Architechs Remix)" mp3

I raided the last-christmas website for a couple of these. Thanks, guys. You're doing the world a great service.

My girls are 10 and 7 and I'm sure that the elder has decided to continue to believe what she knows to be false for the benefit of the younger one (although usually it's the younger who is more cynical and knowing). So he's still real, round my way, for a little while yet.

I know, eh? My youngest, 11, is insisting he still believes, which leads me to believe that he doesn't, but wants to play the game. I'm playing along, since I'm silly like that.

But at least I don't have to worry about wrapping Santa gifts in one paper, and wrapping mom and dad's in another!

It's tough to let go of that innocence of childhood, isn't it?

That Erlend Oye cut is the cats pajamas. Nay, I'll go one further and say that it's the mutts nuts! Speaking of which, will KoC ever release a new record? I don't think I can take another year like this one. . .

adam--i remember when my oldest found out. she was furious with us! but she was kind-hearted enough not to spoil it for her younger brother.

nat--i think my son, on the other hand, pretended to believe even after he didn't, although he's never come right and said when he stopped. of course, he never tells me anything anyway!

justin--i love erlend oye, too. he has such a distinct voice and guitar style. i hope he comes out with something new, too, although i'd put my money on a new whitest boy alive album before the koc. either way, it's been a long time! p.s. i'd never heard "mutts nuts" before! lol

I'm now firmly in stage 3. Only Stage 4 to come. Sigh.

i know, it's kind of sad, isn't it? although i'm hoping to avoid stage 4 directly and end up just looking like mrs. claus. ;-)
