The Iry--isn't that an odd name? Regardless of their unusual name, The Iry are really doing it for me. They're also providing me with an opportunity to demonstrate my inadequacies when it comes to describing music.
If I were to go with my gut, I''d say they're a piano-driven, power/chamber pop/rock band. How's that? Unfortunately, I'm not sure if you can be both chamber and power pop/rock at the same time. I don't even really know what chamber pop means, but the preponderance of the keyboards seems to lend itself to that description. Have I confused you enough?
They're a four-piece outfit from Columbus, Ohio, and their album Dinner for Two on the Moon is available now. I've heard the first five tracks off it and am really liking it. There's something immediately accessible about it, which is usually a warning sign, as I tend to like to work a bit to enjoy the music, you know what I mean? As a matter of fact, it actually sounds like music you might hear on the radio--wot??? Yes, I said it. The radio. What can I say, it's grabbing me, especially the lead singer's vocals and the very-much-in-the-lead piano. I am a total sucker for piano-led pop.
But don't just take my word for it. You should listen and decide for yourself.
