No, the contrast podcast isn't about snow today, but I've got a massive case of snow envy, so I'm combining the two.
Actually, the theme this week is "the feet" and you can go here to listen. I chose a favorite song of mine by Moonbabies from their 2007 album Moonbabies at the Ballroom. It has nothing to do with snow.
This song does, though. In fact, I've been playing Funeral a lot lately and it never fails to provide just what I'm looking for. So this goes out to all you snowed-in folks who are lucky enough to live in places like the Pacific Northwest and the Canadian prairies and the Northeast. Enjoy.
The Arcade Fire--"Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)" mp3 off Funeral (buy)
Next week's theme will be "guitar-free zone," which I'm taking to mean songs without guitars. That will certainly make for one contrasty podcast. Now all I need is some snow . . .

It was 44 degrees here the other day. The temperature converter thing I
used informs me that that is 111 degrees fahrenheit. Snow sounds good!
no WAY!! that doesn't seem possible. do you live near the desert or is that
a fairly common high temp?
I don't live near the desert (woulda been even hotter there!) but I do live
in a dry arid inland area where it does get pretty stinking hot! Even in
Melbourne it was about 38 that day, and Melbourne is usually quite a bit
cooler than where I live. Temps like this are pretty common around this
time of year, especially in my town, but it hasn't been as consistently hot
as summers past. I remember a few years ago when we had about two weeks
where temps were above 35 degrees every day. Not nice!
One of the things that's a bit sad about moving to South Australia is that
I'll almost certainly never wake up to a snowy morning again. I think I'll
survive.
agnes--well, it all sounds way too hot for me, although it does get hot
here in the summer--hot and sticky, which is its own brand of misery!
I have snow envy, too! This time of year is really hard for me, having
lived in western Massachuesetts for 5 years. I always get twitchy, and the
National Weather Service, with their 50% chance of snow forecasts aren't
helping me. So, I am 100% with you. We still have a good month, though -
fingers crossed for a big fat nor'easter!
that's what it'll take, a big fat nor'easter! hey, i wonder if your boys
are missing the snow?
We went all the way to Rochester over the Christmas break b/c BM was asking
so much about snow (starting in April or so), but even there, we were
unlucky. Fingers crossed!
