He makes beautiful music, this
Teitur, and I'm so glad I found it. It's one of those albums that I could quote lyrics from each and every song and say, This is my story, this speaks for me. For instance, in "All My Mistakes" he sings, "There comes a time you must stay in the moment when your heart's still bleeding. There comes a time when you must walk away though your heart's still beating." You see?

The first song is what really did it for me, though. It's an incredibly loving, sweet plea sung both to his lover and to himself. "Don't Want You to Wake Up" is about as perfect a love song as you could write. "It's almost the morning, one foot out the door / As I let the light in to love you even more / Let our minds lose the battle, Let our hearts win the war."
Just who is this Teitur, anyway? Well, his name is Teitur Lassen, and he's from the Faroe Islands (get out your atlas or just
look here) and
Stay Under the Stars is his second album. It came out this past summer. His first release is
Poetry & Aeroplanes, which came out in 2003. He's obviously one sensitive soul.

Stay Under the Stars (
buy) Just listen to those hums and the strings as they rise and fall. This song has been stuck in my head for days.
True story. I was combing through the used bins and when I came across this cd, I felt compelled to pick it up, even though I couldn't remember where or when I'd heard the name. Well, turns out Shane at
the torture garden had been kind enough to
feature Teitur a couple of weeks ago, and that was where I'd read about him. You should read what he has to say. You can pick up two more songs over there if you want, too, although my advice would be to head straight out and buy the album. Just trust me on this one.
