Music for a Sunday Morning

posted Sunday, 15 October 2006
I was inspired to make this mix one night when falling asleep, actually, but the "go-to-sleep" mixtape has been done before, so I thought of Sunday mornings instead. I don't suppose this idea is all that original either, but what can I say, it's what I'm feeling at the moment. Besides, whenever I listen to music while falling asleep, I invariably miss most of it, as I have fallen asleep. So this is better, see?
Sia--"Sunday" mp3 off Colour the Small One (buy)

Sufjan Stevens--"Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid)" mp3 off Greetings From Michigan (buy)
Si Schroeder--"Lavender Mist" mp3 off Coping Mechanism (buy)
Schroedersound--"Brailowsky (remix)" mp3 off Coping Mechanism (buy)
Josh Rouse--"Streetlights" mp3 off Nashville (buy)

When I was in college, one of my roommates and I used to fall asleep to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, which invariably led to a bad night's sleep when "Money" cued up. Zero 7, however, is a significant improvement. Have you listened to much of their new one? It reminds me of the 70's, with Steve Miller and some Eagles mixed in...

i haven't heard it in its entirety, but i do like what all i have heard. i love sia's vocals, especially. i totally agree about the pink floyd/bad dreams issue. zero 7 is much more calming!

all mp3s are for sampling purposes only. you like it? you buy it. you want me to take it down? let me know. and for the uninitiated, if you wish to listen to a song, click on the little blue arrows and they will stream. thanks, your host and music lover, mjrc.
