I'm feeling a bit blah today. I suppose it's the gray, rainy day outside, typical of this limbo season between winter and spring. The time before the sap really gets running and the flowers start re-emerging but when you know there's not a chance in hell that it will snow again. A time for waiting.
So what kind of music goes with this sense of suspended animation? I either feel like something extremely mellow, suitable for doing nothing, or something uplifting that will get the energy flowing. Maybe a mix of the two?
Safe Home--"Suspended in Gaffa" mp3 off The Wide World and All We Know (buy)
Limbeck--"Big Drag" mp3 off Paste Magazine Sampler 31 (I should have posted this Friday, coz it speaks to dirty dishes in the sink and not doing what you should be doing!)
Tammany Hall NYC--"Always On Sunday" mp3 off Back in the Bottle (buy)
Dearest Marcy, Sundays are sucky, and I find they have an inherent tendency
towards bringing one down. But a downtempo song with a Kate Bush fixation
(c.f. Safe Home - Suspended in Gaffa) is a fina attempt to counter!!
yeah, i think you're right about sundays. saturdays are always filled with
a bit more excitement and a sense of promise, but sundays are the downside
of the weekend, the slide into monday . . . glad you like the safe home.
that record's been out for a couple of years but it's still very nice.
