This time of year is great for a lot of reasons--warm, sunny days and low humidity, irises in bloom, and strawberries! My daughter and I picked these with our own hands at a local farm yesterday afternoon under a perfectly blue sky and lovely light breeze.
I gotta tell you, there's nothing quite like a ripe, sweet strawberry fresh from the field. One bite spoils you for the tasteless store-bought ones that you have to doctor up with tons of sugar, that's for sure. And once the season ends, you dream about them for the rest of the year . . . .

MMMMmmmmm I ♥ Strawberries! And fresh strawberries are the only way to go
indeed.
i think i'm going back for more later this week. gotta get 'em while the
getting's good!
Strawberry and rhubarb pie is like manna from the heavens.
I hate to be the odd man out, but I'm not a fan of strawberries. Just don't
care for them. Try not to judge. :)
afm--strawberry rhubarb pie is an american classic. i'd make one if i could
cook!
I saw our local picking farm's sign out, too! WOOT! I look forward to
picking the berries every year, and this year the kiddo wants to make jam.
I've never done that, so maybe I'll try it!
wow, jam--i've never been that ambitious, either. good luck! my next
favorite thing to pick after strawberries is sweet cherries. that starts
around july 1st. yum!
I would also love to learn how to make jam so you ladies please let me know
if you figure it out! I did make strawberry rhubarb muffins the other day
and they were so good. I have a thing for rhubarb :).
i remember as a kid that i wouldn't touch rhubarb, but now i would love a
strawberry rhubarb anything!
I found a video on youtube:
