It Was the Strangest Thing

posted Monday, 9 April 2007

It was the strangest thing. You all know how I feel about grocery shopping. Well, the other day I was shopping but not at my usual store. I was going about my business, in my own little world, when it occured to me I knew the song that was playing over the loudspeakers. It was Gomez--Gomez, I tell you--and it was a great song, too: "Cry on Demand" off How We Operate. Next song that came on was Death Cab For Cutie's "Crooked Teeth" off Plans. I was stunned, but in a good way. I took it as a sign that I should shop there more often!

The Devlins --"Strangest Things" mp3 off Consent (buy)

On a completely unrelated note--tonight's the Loney, Dear / Low show I've been counting down the days to see. Full report to follow as soon as possible.

Goodness me - this sounds like a store that I need to frequent as well! But, was it a one off? And did they go back to playing REO Speedwagon, Tiffany and James Blunt after you left? I'll never forget the time I was in a supermarket and heard "Swamp Thing" by The Chameleons being played over the in-store system... it took me about 45 seconds to realise... and then I just freaked out down by the cat food section...

you know, they probably did follow it up with reo speedwagon or some other shite like that--i was too preoccupied to notice. ;-) wouldn't that be a killer job, though, making playlists for grocerty store muzak machines. think of all the possibilities!

all mp3s are for sampling purposes only. you like it? you buy it. you want me to take it down? let me know. and for the uninitiated, if you wish to listen to a song, click on the little blue arrows and they will stream. thanks, your host and music lover, mjrc.
