Show Me the Way

posted Tuesday, 19 September 2006
Just look at all the great shows coming to town, several of which I'll have to miss. Now, I am getting to see Sufjan Stevens and My Brightest Diamond and TV on the Radio and Grizzly Bear, so it's not like I'm missing everything that's out there. But if I could be in two places at once, I'd be going to all the rest of them, too.
Sunset Rubdown at First Unitarian Church 9/26 (tickets) "They Took a Vote and Said No (Live, Daytrotter session)" mp3
Sufjan Stevens and My Brightest Diamond 9/28 at The Tower Theater (tickets) SS--"The One I Love (Live at SXSW)" mp3 and MBD--"Something of an End" mp3
Mates of State and Starlight Mints at Starlight Ballroom 9/28 (tickets) MOS--"Goods (All In Your Head) Live KEXP" mp3 and SM--"Brass Digger (KCRW Rare & Stolen)" mp3
Cursive and The Thermals 9/29 at Starlight Ballroom (tickets) Cursive--"Bad Sects" mp3 and Thermals--"A Pillar of Salt" mp3
Art Brut and The Spinto Band at Starlight Ballroom 10/20 (tickets) AB--"Bang, Bang, Rock n Roll (Session Planet Claire 25-10-05)" mp3 and TSB--"Trust vs. Mistrust" mp3
TV on the Radio and Grizzly Bear at The Starlight Ballroom 10/21(tickets) TVOTR--Watch them play "Wolf Like Me" on Letterman via YouTube and GB "Knife" mp3
It's probably best that I can't go to all these shows. It makes the ones I do get to see that much more exciting. I mean, I can't tell you how psyched I am to see Sufjan/MBD and TVOTR. It's good to have something to look forward to, you know?
Oh, FiL over at pogo a go-go has two tickets for sale to the sold-out Sufjan show in Vancouver on Oct. 14th. Go here for details.

Grand! Looks like quite the lineup you've got planned. My calendar's rather clear, though I am plotting to go see the Detroit Cobras in October. Nothing like a spot of gritty garage gock to cleanse the soul, though methinks I'm at the age where I should consider earplugs. My left ear's never been the same since that Ned's Atomic Dustbin gig back in 1992...

Thanks for the ticket plug - my intention is that they go to someone who really wants to see the show but can't afford the exorbitant sums the scalpers will end up charging...

i'll try not to stand too close to the speakers. in fact, i've read a few folks mention that they always wear earplugs at shows these days. the sufjan show is quite the classy affair, however, with seats and everything.

and i'm sure there's someone out there who's just dying to see sufjan and will be ever so grateful to get the tickets--no matter what the price!
