Some lovely remixes here - it was very nice to hear the Kings of
Convenience one in particular. I think, for me, most electronic music can
seem a little lacking in soul or 'meaning'... I know there are exceptions,
but... Generally I need lyrics to attach to the music. To help me
understand it, in essence (I admit it, I'm a simple soul - and a curious
one... I want to know things... and lyrics can say so much... sometimes).
Having said that, I'm playing more and more electronic/laptop music these
days - often featuring little if any lyrics. Perhaps I'm changing, finally
catching up with the 21st C world. I need to move out of the C86 cul de sac
at some point... :) Great post Mjrc. You've been on great form recently :)
oh, i'm totally a lyrics person, too. that and vocals, which is why most
electronic music doesn't satisfy to the quite the same depth (i have a need
to sing along!). about moving out of the C86 cul de sac, maybe you just
need a vacation home in the electronic world, a nice place to visit but not
necessarily to live in. : )
Just reviewed tapes n tapes on my blog, they are an excellent band! nice
blog you have here...
thanks, jack. and i quite agree about tapes 'n tapes. the loon is one of my
favorites so far this year.
i love love love that kings of convenience remix. that lil spanish flair
of guitar sounds so uplifting and happy especially for these summer days :)
ah, yes, that spanish flair. i wonder if that's something from the original
or put in by royksopp?
imo, the li'l spanish flair is in the original too. mmm, koc is guitar
heaven. :) they're both so lovely, the remix is quirky too. thank you for
sharing the remixes!
