I usually do this when I'm feeling lazy, which I suppose I am, but in my defense, sometimes there's just so much fantastic stuff out there that I want to point it out so that you don't miss it. The internets is a big, big place, you know?
So, continuing in the covers vein of late, copy, right? has a great selection of covers up right here, including the Future Kings of Spain's version of Todd Rundgren's "Love of the Common Man." It's a pretty Faithful rendition, if you know what I mean.
Blogfresh Radio has a new show up and you can listen to it here. I really like hearing the bloggers talk about the music they're writing about.
If you haven't already done so, you should head over to the torture garden to read Shane's thoughts, reactions and reflections on the Arcade Fire's Neon Bible. It's one of those pieces that makes you wish you could write--or even think about things--half as insightfully as he does. He's been busy, because he also has up an interview with Cathy Davey, an Irishwoman who is fast becoming one of my favorites. Read it here. Here's a song of hers he had up a while ago:
Cathy Davey --"Save Button" mp3 off Something Ilk (Digipak UK)
Over at music like dirt, you should check out his latest "listen to this" posts, if for no other reason than to read what contributor Jez has to say (part 1) regarding the difference between the way "kids" hear the music of today and the way his "old" ears hear it, and also to hear a beautiful song by The Cinematic Orchestra (in part 2).
In a somewhat related thinkpiece, Colin over at and before the first kiss has a thought-and-comment provoking post on "indie-preciousness" and the social interactions and implications that ensue from a seemingly simple request for the name of a song. Oh my god, that sounds so complicated. Just go here and read it and make sure you read the comments, too.
And last but not least, I bid you Happy Easter, and leave you with this charming video, which I first saw exactly a year ago on Jesus's blog. Why this amuses me, I cannot explain. Enjoy.
Vengeful stuffed animals are amusing!
Hey, thanks for the plug. Jez's comments are inspired arn't they... its
terrible when someone eloquent comes on your blog and shows you up lol. Im
off to see Cinematic Orchestra in May which hopefully should be great.
liz--he seems awfully dang gleeful, doesn't he? i love it when he's in
times square (?) and he struts around in a circle before he lets the guy
have it.
Just wanted to throw a Happy Easter to the best blogger out there.
Your friend from Kansas!
