You want to know what's not fun? PMS-ing the week before Christmas. Sorry, guys, but this is how it rolls around here sometimes. Sufjan understands.
Sufjan Stevens--"Sister Winter" mp3 off Songs for Christmas Vol. V: Peace! (buy)
I of course have no right to comment on PMS other than as an occasional
victim, but seriously, is there ever a good time? I guess if you were
about to get into a fist fight, or were sitting down to a big family dinner
with a bunch of relatives of the opposite political persuasion - those
might be interesting occasions to be PMS-ing. I'm think "Pass My Shotgun"
here.
i think you might be right, there is no *good* time for it, but some times
are definitely worse than others! : ) oh, i love the sufjan christmas
albums. right now i'm listening a whole lot to no. 5, and also to no. 3.
"get behind me. santa!" is really good. the whole thing is such a great mix
of traditional carols and his highly original songs. i think i'm going to
listen to no. 2 next. i hope you like it.
I had a bunch of smartass comments about this, but ultimately decided
discretion is the better part of valour in such circumstances.
you know what warms my heart? that two married men responded to this in
such understanding ways. i sure hope your wives appreciate your kindness
and empathy . . : ) geeze, my pms must have subsided, i feel so generous
and touched by it . . . nearly brings tears to my eyes . . . oh man, now i
am crying . . . dammit! why did you two have to go and bring all that up
for? men. they'll never get it, will they? shit . . . ;-)
Oh the joy.
Speaking of being a considerate, empathic spouse, I remembered last night
what I was trying to think of: that the hot flashes of menopause are really
"power surges".
YEUCH, UNCLEAN UNCLEAN! I think that's how you're supposed to respond,
isn't it?
(eh, sorry for ruining your blog Marcy)
wre--as much as i hate the pms, i am DEFinitely not ready for the power
surges, thank you very much! ;-) juan's always telliing me i must really be
from seattle, so maybe in our former lives we lived in the northwest or
something?
