I Had a Nightmare that I Couldn't Blog For a Week

posted Friday, 12 January 2007
The other night I had a nightmare. I was going to be away from home and wouldn't be able to blog for an entire week, and it set me into a panic. Very distressing. I think it has to do with my imminent return to the workplace and reflects my worry that I won't have enough time to blog to my heart's desire. I guess I'll have to be more organized and think ahead a bit more, blah blah blah.
Don't get me wrong. I am looking forward to getting out and being with people. I think it will be good for me. Take my mind off things, even make a little money. But it is seriously going to cut into my blogging time.
Margot & The Nuclear So and So's--"Paper Kitten Nightmare" mp3 off The Dust of Retreat (buy)
Headlights--"Signs Point to Yes (But Outlook Not So Good)" mp3 off Kill Them With Kindness (buy)
Muse--"Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" mp3 off Not Another Teen Movie Soundtrack (buy)
It's become a running joke in my house--Sorry, can't talk now, I'm too busy blogging! I refer to that silly video about the guy who's too busy to talk coz  .  .  . you guessed it--he's too busy blogging!
Can you even tell what this is? It's an x-ray of someone typing at a computer. Supposed to be scary.
Best I could do, folks.

Yeah work sucks ass! And I was actually a little scared by the skeleton hands but I didn't know the skeleton was typing...I didn't know skeletons could type :-P

I think it will be great and even if it's not having money in your pocket is always good...

It would be a sweet deal to get paid to blog, listen, write or play music...But you know then I would be mixing business with pleasure and that never has a happy ending.

So whatcha ya going to be doing? And like you said we will all still be here when you have time. ;-)

hmmm, i never thought about it not being a good idea to mix business with pleasure in that sense. dating someone from work, maybe, but not that. i don't imagine i'll have any opportunity to do any kind of web surfing, as i'm going to be doing some kind of customer service--keying in orders and answering the phone. pretty much monkey work, but that's just what i want at this stage of the game. the hours are sweet, too, as they're part time and i won't have to get childcare for the wee one. i start on the 29th. : )

Well that is sad that you won't be able to update as often, but I guess you do need to be able to provide for yourself and family. Hope the new job goes well.

Oooh, do you get commission? Can we call you up and say "I'll buy $10,000 of your finest widgets" and you get paid 5% of that?? Then we can return them all immediately saying they're the wrong colour, get our dosh back, but you'll still get to keep yourcut. If each of us did that once per day, you'd get real rich real quick and could retire early & blog all day...

A flawless plan, eh??

andy--i'm hoping it won't make too much of an impact, coz it's already hard enough for me to take one day off a week as it is. ;-)

fil--unfortunately, i don't think there's any commission to be had. that would be sweet, tho, wouldn't it?

pik--i second that!

I'll second the mixing business with pleasure advice. I like to travel, and so I thought, "Wow, wouldn't it be great if I could be paid to travel and write about it?" Cue conversations like, "Did you get any interviews while you were gone?" "No, I was drunk at the bar. I'm human! Leave me alone!" So yeah, I say customer service is the way to go. Plus, people are fun to mess with over the phone.

i had the same thought about messing with people over the phone. altho, if karma holds true, i'll end up getting stuck with all the really horribly nasty types, as i have been known to be a bit of a bitch when it comes to talking to customer service types. of course, i usually only call when i'm terribly fed up with whatever my problem is and then i end up taking it out on them, but i'm sure that means i will probably be paid back in spades for all my past wrongdoings. *sigh* it pays to be nice, i guess.

all mp3s are for sampling purposes only. you like it? you buy it. you want me to take it down? let me know. and for the uninitiated, if you wish to listen to a song, click on the little blue arrows and they will stream. thanks, your host and music lover, mjrc.
