How's everyone today? I'm doing as well as can be expected. I thought I'd re-evaluate the old blog roll and add a few new friends, then point out a few interesting items.
Say hello to
are you embarrassed easily?, a brand new blog written by someone I actually know. It brings back memories (good god) of what it was like "way back" when I first started my own blog, so visit him and give him some encouragement.
Now here's a kindred spirit if ever I found one.
The roaring machine is written by Liz. Liz is really sad a lot of the time, but she's really smart and has the best sense of humor. I found two of the best-titled songs I've seen in a long time there: "For Christ's Sake" and "I'll Always Be Your Loser, Honey." You gotta love songs with names like that.
I found
circles of concrete through the
contrast podcast, and Andy's got a great musical sensibility. He introduced me to
Sondre Lerche, for which I'll always be grateful. He, too, is pretty new to blogging, so check him out and see what he's got to say.
Lastly, I welcome
music of the moment, written by Chris, who happens to live in Switzerland. I simply marvel at how people from around the world can have so much in common when it comes to music.
Sadly,
rbally has given up shop. If you are into live music, his site was rich, because he always had the best shows up. And I suppose the time has come for me to take
village indian off the roster. I still check in periodically to see whether Amrit has returned, but, alas, he hasn't. Oh, I know, he's having the time of his life over at
stereogum, but it's just not the same.

I don't know who
Chuck Klosterman is, but
Jesus has got
one funny post about how to make him an extra-special mix tape. The fellas over at
mocking music will be entering the first-ever iPod battle to be held in Ottawa. Learn all about the originally-from-Paris practice
here.
Here's one for you.
"Are You An Internet Addict?" Oh, the horrors! I especially like warning sign #8. And, um, yes, I believe I am firmly addicted to my internets.
One last thing. Tonight, you can go see two of my favorite bands AND do good at the same time. There's a benefit show for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in Brooklyn at
Galapagos Art Space, 70 N. 6th St., Williamsburg.
Beat Radio and
Jenny Owen Youngs are both on the the bill.
Check out the flier here and go see them.
