I saw this on CNN the other morning. Noah Gray, a 16-year-old kid from Florida, made a documentary during the presidential primary season called "Virgin Voting" in which he interviewed and videotaped candidates and young people who will be voting for the very first time. You can check out his website here and watch the video here.
I think this is a great idea. A lot of young people register to vote but never make it to the polls, so this is a way to remind them to take that final step. And I also think it's incredibly appropriate and timely, since for many of us this is a historic occasion, casting a vote for the first black man to run on a national ticket. So I'll remember my first time in this regard as well.
He's also got a contest running for the best video of young people who are "doing it for the very first time." See here for the details.

OK, so I guess this begs the question, Do you remember your very first time?
I do remember the first time I voted. It was 1980 and I was scared to
death that Ronald Reagan would win. Stupidly, I voted my heart and voted
for Independent John Anderson. I should have voted for Carter. By voting
for Anderson I was, in essence, voting for Reagan.
oh. my. god. that is EXACTLY what i did. i remember a guy i knew handing me
a flyer on my way in, saying "don't waste your vote" and i took that to
mean i should vote for anderson, coz he was who i really liked. it only
took a few years of reagan for me to realize my inner democrat!
What a great idea young Gray had! I will watch the doc.
