Who is Nardwuar the Human Serviette? Perhaps the craziest, happiest-to-be-alive dude ever to hail from Canada, that's who.
He's part comedian, part guerrilla journalist, part musician who descends on whomever he wants (mostly other musicians) and interviews them in an extremely persistent, somewhat annoying albeit clever manner. He's in your face yet harmless. You might want to brain him but at the same time he's so benign that he wins you over.
I think you have to see it to get it:
Last December he put out a DVD called Welcome to My Castle, and it's a kind of retrospective of his career, a prequel to his other DVD Doot Doola Doot Doo . . . Doot Doo!. It's pretty damn silly, especially at first, but there's something more going on than just shenanigans as he turns the stuffy world of journalism inside out by asking questions in a way that at first seems inane but are actually anything but stupid. He really knows what he's talking about and has done tons of research before his interviews.
He's also in a really fun garage/punk band called The Evaporators. Their latest album is called Gassy Jack and Other Tales and it's not a joke, as it's very listenable. I think the key thing to remember about Nardwuar is that there's a lot more going on than first appears, so don't dismiss him or his music out of hand.

wow, was like the flight of the conchords without the strange NZ accents
and the music and Bernie and all the singing... kind of like FotC without
all the comedy stuff. :)
Big ups for Narduwar! A BC provincial AND a Canadian national cham-peeen!!
i get the feeling juan doesn't think nardwuar's too funny? he takes a
little getting used to, i think. i enjoy him, but i go for that type of
humor. he doesn't only talk to musicians, either. he takes on politicians
and industry figures and pretty much anyone. i think he's fearless, which i
really admire.
Come to Vancouver & I'll take you to see the statue of Gassy Jack...
