My Basket Is Full

posted Sunday, 12 April 2009

It's Easter and I feel like my basket is full of all the things that matter most to me, the fullest it's been in a long time. I hope yours is, too. I also wish you a happy day if it's a holiday you celebrate. Well, I wish you a happy day regardless, but you know what I mean.

Today the thing that means the most to me is being with my family. Just my little nuclear family. We always used to go to church on Easter morning and it was a big deal, but this year we're not going. This year I think spending some down time together is more important than being in church. Plus it feels really good to relax and to not have to rush to be anywhere or worry about what I'm wearing or whether the kids' hair is brushed, etc., etc. Sometimes the stress of getting out the door practically negates the spiritual benefits of the actual service.

However, it is a special day for Jesus, so how about a few mellow songs in his honor?

Guster--"Jesus on the Radio" mp3 off Keep it Together (buy)

Iron and Wine--"Jesus the Mexican Boy" mp3 off The Sea and the Rhythm (buy)

Page France--"Jesus" mp3 off Hello, Dear Wind (buy)

"Sometimes the stress of getting out the door practically negates the spiritual benefits of the actual service." Perfectly said. I could not agree more!

Happy Easter!
