I'm not feeling quite as introspective as I was yesterday. I've decided to embrace the blue sky and warm weather and try to enjoy it instead, which leads me to these songs, suitable for Friday and cruising in your convertible. You all have convertibles at your disposal, right?
First up is Friendly Fires. It's very upbeat, danceable but not quite hardcore disco, if you know what I mean. Fun stuff, regardless. I found it when I was searching my files for the cities podcast and I liked it so well that I thought, Hey, they deserve their own day in the spotlight.

This song has a lot going on: great opening riff and chorus, clever lyrics, very uptempo. Perfect for a Friday ride with the top down. Gentleman Auction House is from St. Louis, MO, and the EP came out May 6th.

You've probably already heard this track from Sunny Day Sets Fire, but talk about perfect for Friday afternoon. It should be the mantra for the weekend for each and every one of us: "I don't wanna be brainless."

Finally, there's this rather soulful number from Ersi Arvizu. It popped up on my ipod one day and I love the retro groove of the horns and the male backup singers. She's from East L.A. and is the former singer for El Chicano. I like the fact that you can hear some life experience in her voice.

So there you have it, a few songs for your Friday afternoon cruise. Enjoy!
Heard Friendly Fires on the new Wii Fit commercial...nice fun music.
Thanks!
