Oh, now this is tasty stuff. Leon Jean-Marie is an East Londoner whose sound has been described as "urgent future-funk." Couldn't have said it better myself.
I love the urgency of the bass line and his voice, and man is it funky. It's got just the right combination of get-your-badself-moving grooves and raw, edgy guitar riffs. If you're looking to move out of the C-86 cul-de-sac (and you know who you are), you simply must listen to this. You could also watch the video for "Scratch" right here.
Leon Jean-Marie--"Scratch" mp3 off 7" Single Scratch (buy--Don't know yet. I'll have to update this when I find out.)
He's got a couple of gigs coming up in London and has been supporting Mika. For more details, check out his myspace. His debut 7" single comes out March 12th on Grand Scheme Recordings--that's today!
Love that! Very Jamie Liddell!
I saw your comment on Elbows Forum re posts not getting on Hype for the
past 5 days. I'm having the same issue at Speed of Dark, plus I can't even
get approved to post on the forum. Write me?
