Last week the contrast podcast theme was "musicians with moustaches," and my second choice was going to be Kevin Drew, he of Broken Social Scene fame. He's coming out with a new album Sept. 18th and I'm afraid it's the closest thing to a new BSS album we're going to get for the foreseeable future.
I'm not in love with "Tbtf," but "Backed Out on the Cause" (the song that's in the video) is great. It really confirms that Drew's guitar playing and songwriting are the heart and soul of BSS. Well, I won't discount Brendan Canning, but if you listen to "Backed Out on the Cause," I think you'll see what I mean. (Or should it be hear what I mean? That always confuses me.)
