I know two things to be true. The first is that running on the treadmill is WAY more of a strenuous workout than riding a stationary bike. I ran for the first time since I broke my toe 25 days ago and according to the heartrate calculator contraption, my heartrate was in the stratosphere. Yet according to the same kind of mechanical device found on the bike, I'd been burning twice as many calories on it while maintaining a lower heartrate. Well, I don't care what the machine says. The running is harder and takes more out of you! It felt good to be doing it again, though. I could just feel my serotonin rising.

The other thing I know to be true is that children are born innocent. How do I know this? Well, yesterday the song "We Will Rock You" by Queen came on, and my little one got all excited because she recognized it. She wanted to know who sang it. I said, Queen. She asked, Why is it called Queen if it's sung by a boy? And I thought, Oh, my dear, sweet innocent child.
