I'm Such a Loser

posted Thursday, 4 December 2008

I'm such a loser. Literally. I lose things. I break things, too, but right now I'm pissed at myself for losing my headphones.

I took them with me yesterday when I went shopping because I thought I might want to listen to my music while I shopped. Well, I decided not to take my ipod into the stores but I must have dropped the headphones out of the car when I got out because they are gone. I've searched the car, my purse, the house, asked the kids, you name it. They are nowhere to be found.

It pisses me off because they were kind of expensive and I liked them a lot. I know I can ask Santa for a new pair but I need them now. What to do, what to do.

In the meantime I'm using an old shitty pair that sound like tin cans and let in the noise around me even when I turn the music up really loud. They're better than nothing, but just barely.

Any recommendations, now that I'm unexpectedly in the market for new ones? I like the ear buds because they stay in place while I exercise. That's the most important crieteria, aside from not sounding like crap.

The Sharp Things--"I'll Always Be Your Loser, Honey" mp3 off Foxes & Hounds (buy)

Bjork--"Headphones (Digital Warfare's Clip Mix)" mp3

On a sillier note, word has it that people "will embrace yellow" in 2009 coz we will all be feeling like losers and will need something to cheer us up!

My favourite colour is yellow. I never realised that made me a loser!

I have such problems with headphones. I never lose them but alwayyyys break them. I love the Apple ones but they are flimsy, overpriced and not toddler resistant. The Sennheusers have the best sound, but are a bit pricey. They're sturdy, though.

agnes--no, you're not a loser, the yellow is just supposed to cheer up those of us who ARE losers. no insult intended! : )

afm--i tried the apple ones but they hurt my ears--they're too large to fit comfortably. i've also looked at the sennheusers but haven't been able to spend the money on them. i may do it, though. thanks for the ideas. and my sympathy about them not being child proof!

Oh my God. I broke mine the other day and literally dropped everything I was doing and went out to buy new ones. I feel your pain. Hopefully you'll find them.

And I'm the exact same way with headphones so you're not a loser. Or that makes us both losers, but I'm sticking with the first one.

Was just joshin' Marcy. I already know I'm not a loser! Apple headphones are dodgy I reckon, my first pair degenerated very quickly and I used cheap crappy ones for a while. Then I left my original iPod on a bus (wasn't returned despite having my name on it and a phone call to the bus company about an hour after I got off the thing) and I was bereft! Ended up getting a new (better) iPod the very next day and it and the headphones have lasted the distance. Some people would say it was a bit sad that I couldn't go 24 hours without an iPod but you guys all understand, I'm sure!

I want the Shure ones, too! For now, my Sonys will do. I like the earbuds, too, with the smaller ear pieces on them, like in your pic.

I have not lost one yet, but son loses his often. He lost his iPod shuffle, too, after a year. (it was really little!) His next one is a Christmas gift, and I hope he doesn't lose IT!

I have a pair of the Shure earbuds and agree that they are awesome. Well worth the money - if you can hang onto them for a while! :) They are very effecient so you can cut back on the volume and get more out of your battery. The only complaints I have are that I have to lower the volume level on the tracks I upload so that the music isn't too loud (!) and that the bass is a bit wimpy. I got the base model (having a hard time spending $$ on earbuds) and I understand that the more expensive models have better bass. Sounds like a good request for Santa to me. Good luck!

Bose on-ear phones, the best investment i've made in a long time, great, sharp sound, lead that plugs into only one side of the phones and fold into a neat carry case.

agnes--oh, that makes me very sad that you lost your ipod. that's exactly something i would do! i'm glad you were able to replace it so quickly. what did we do before we had these things?!

rachel and nat and wre--i've looked at those shure ones and they are on my list. i definitely need the bass, though, so maybe santa will have to spend a little extra this time.

drew--i'm not sure i deserve a pair of bose. seriously, i would love a pair, but i'm not sure i'm worthy! maybe what i need is two pair--one less expensive to wear to the gym and another to wear for other times. hmmmm, maybe i'll start saving my pennies.

all mp3s are for sampling purposes only. you like it? you buy it. you want me to take it down? let me know. and for the uninitiated, if you wish to listen to a song, click on the little blue arrows and they will stream. thanks, your host and music lover, mjrc.
