You never know who you'll remind people of and of course you have no control over it, but if I had a choice in the matter, I would definitely not choose to remind someone of a person named Edna.
I mean no offense to any of my readers who are named Edna or to any of you who know and love an Edna, but the name just doesn't conjure up positive images for me. It puts me in mind of an older, rather dumpy woman in an apron and orthopedic shoes and that's just not how I see myself. Not yet, anyway!
What am I going on about? Well, we have a patient at the clinic who told me that whenever she sees me she wants to call me Edna because I remind her so much of an old friend of hers by the same name. I'm trying to keep an open mind about the subject but I'm not gonna lie, I'm having a hard time taking it as a compliment!

Edna! That goes on a par with Bertha and Henrietta. Definitely take it as a
compliment and be thankful your own name is cool. I like the little
cartoon....keep those things out of the pie for goodness sake!!
haha you are so funny. :-) You don't remind me of an Edna, then again I
don't think I even know any Edna's
Fair enough. What about an Edina, a la Ab Fab? Still not a great
association...
tricia--i know, they're huge!! i had an aunt bertha and was always thankful
not to be named after her!
It could be worse. Gertrude. Bathsheba. Eglantine. Beatrice. Esmerelda.
Prudence. Beryl.
this is funny--my grandmother was a big-time bowler and would often get her
name in the local newspaper for her scores. her name was augusta but she
hated it and if they happened to misspell her name as "agnes" she was
always thrilled! luckily for me i was named after her sister martha, and
not for her!
That is funny! I think you got the better deal there Marcy!
I can totally understand. I mean, Edna is an OLD LADY name, and you are
not an old lady! Maybe if you reminded her of, say, some friend named
Heather or Jessica....
