I had suspected my old kitty Udler was suffering from kitty alzheimer's for a while before he died and now I have substantiation for my claim. About two years ago I wrote about how my cat was acting strangely and sure enough, now I find out I was right about why. This article tells how more and more cats are developing dementia, mainly because they're living longer. Just like their human counterparts, they're showing signs of senility as they age. Poor kitties.

Kitty dementia. I have truly heard everything now. It's not that I don't
believe it, it's just that everything gets studied these days, even our
pets!
i know, seems like they could be spending that money on something a little
more useful . . . unless of course there's some kind of correlation between
kitty dementia and people dementia and it helps them find a cure for
alzheimers!
Aw, poor kitties. One of mine (now passed on) went deaf and got really
crotchety, which are also people-like signs of old age.
all three of my old kitties went deaf as they got older, but in their cases
it was kind of nice because they were such scaredy cats that they'd run
from the room when they heard you coming. when they couldn't hear so well
anymore, they were a lot less likely to be frightened away! big price to
pay, but it was kind of nice for a while.
