I don't usually do this--dis music, that is. I mean, I like to highlight good music--good lyrics, in particular. However, when I heard this song, it struck me as being so lame that I couldn't let it go unnoted.
The band is Animal Liberation Orchestra and the song is "Girl, I Wanna Lay You Down." I heard this on the very respectable WXPN, who are usually pretty discerning when it comes to music. Not this time!
Maybe it's just me that finds these lyrics cheesy and laughable. But I mean, come on! "My heart begins to flutter, you're smooth and creamy like peanut butter"??? That was the first sign that this was going to be a doozy. "I'm gonna flood you like a love river"?? Argh!! When I hear "craptacular"** stuff like this, I think, I could write better shit than this!
Animal Liberation Orchestra --"Girl, I Wanna Lay You Down" mp3 Live at Soho Restaurant and Nightclub
Girl, I Wanna Lay You Down
I come over early in the morning
I'm like a heat wave without warning
And when I touch you my heart begins to flutter
You're smooth and creamy like peanut butter
Girl, I wanna lay you down
I'm gonna flood you like a love river
Ah baby, the postman is about to deliver
I'll cook you up some dinner, a little pasta
Listen to some music, a little rasta
So turn out the lights, bring out the candles
Wrap your arms around my love handles
They say that passion may not always endure
But this feeling that I have for you is burning up my world
** kudos to cindy from adzuki bean stash for coining the term "craptacular." And apologies in advance to any fans of Animal Liberation Orchestra. In the spirit of full disclosure, I've only ever heard this song by them. They might be a wonderful band for all I know. This critique only applies to this one song.
Also smooth peanut butter is horrible. Yuck, my tongue's sticking to the
roof of my mouth just at the thought of it! ka! ka!
well, i don't have anything against smooth peanut butter--in fact, i feel
bad for it for being used so horrendously as a metaphor! : )
Um, should I admit that it made me laugh? (and for that reason alone I'm
giving it 7 out of 10).
well, it made me laugh too--the question is, are they doing it on purpose?
methinks not! :0
Hey, this is all shiny now. Not like MRE packaging. What happen to the old
design? :D
where've you been, squashed? my blog host forced a redesign on me a couple
of months ago--gone is the "military green." i think it's an improvement. :
)
I mean... I don't know how much "jam" music you listen to, but this is the
norm. It's not about depth in the lyrics... it's feel good and sway music.
That's the beauty of it. It's no different from Keller Williams "Boob
Job" or Phishs "Lizards"
