I've been having my older daughter and her friend do chores around the house that I'll never get to in a million years, like emptying out all the kitchen cupboards, washing them down and then replacing all the stuff. They even cleaned out the freezer section of the refrigerator, something I don't think I've ever done!
So my younger daughter wanted to get in on the action. She asked (practically begged, in fact) if she could clean the toilets. She'd seen her friend do it at her house and "thought it looked like a lot of fun." I said, sure! Have at it, and I handed her the scrubbing bubbles and some paper towels.
About an hour after she was done, I went in to use the bathroom. She was after me immediately--You're not going to the bathroom, are you? I said, Yeah, I am, why? She said, You can't use the toilet, I just cleaned in there! I said, Oh, dear, that's one of the drawbacks of cleaning. You do it and it looks great and then someone comes along and messes it up again. Unfortunately, you can't stop people from using the bathroom! She was not happy. All her hard work was going to be undone. I said, Maybe now you'll have a little more sympathy for me when I complain about cleaning the house and then you kids mess it up again right away. Ah, she said, I see what you mean.
Score one for the beauty of logical consequences!

Oh, LOL so much! Awesome lesson.
i have a friend who told me a similar story, that she "forbids" her family
to use the bathrooms for a few hours because she just wants to enjoy the
clean space for a while! so i don't think you're a beyotch, just normal!
