Frightened Rabbit

posted Wednesday, 15 October 2008

You know, I think it's a good thing I have to miss their show Friday night because I honestly don't think I could take it in person. Their music cracks me open and makes me feel fragile and torn and it would be most embarrassing to have to run out of the room sobbing, don't you agree?

I suppose it's his voice that does me in. That and the music. Yep, the voice and the music. Other than that, I could take it.  Other than that, I'd be just fine.

Frightened Rabbit--"My Backwards Walk (Daytrotter Session)" mp3

Frightened Rabbit--"Fast Blood" mp3 off The Midnight Organ Fight (buy)

Frightened Rabbit--"Good Arms vs. Bad Arms (Live on KEXP)" mp3

Oh god yes. I can only listen to this one in short bursts, because it's so real and so raw, and I hear so much of myself in every aching painful phrase that it's just too costly to listen to very often. I love it though. To bits.

Marcy, if there's still tickets available, I really urge you to reconsider.

I've been lucky enough to catch the band live quite a few times this year - some gigs have been better than others I'm willing to admit that. But when they are on form, as they were just a couple of weeks back in Glasgow, then they are truly something special.

Yes, the lyrics will hit you right where it hurts - your throat will tighten and your eyes will go moist - but its the music that makes the energy of the live performances that are so memorable. Believe me.....you wont want to run away - you'll scream and holler for more.

"I tremble, because this fumble has become biblical. I feel like I just died twice."

" Fast Blood" grabbed me right away when I first heard it, and it has not let go.

Love these guys. I know what you mean about their lyrics, though. Evocative.

I did an interview with them a while back in which I pissed them off: http://www.afreeman.org/2008/04/11/a-free-man-offends-frightened-rabbit/
