This might be a little long and on the disjointed side, but there's a bunch of stuff I want to put up and if I don't do it now in a catch-all post, I won't get around to it.
First off, someone kindly suggested the song "Death Letter" for my holy guilt trip post, so I checked it out and here it is, first by the original artist, Son House, and second as a cover by The White Stripes. Thanks for the tip, lazy!

Continuing in the bluesy vein, the Norwegian artist Grande has a slight bluesy edge to his music, especially the song "Rhythms of Sin." He sent me an email asking me to listen to his music and I like it, so I'm going to pass it along.

OK, so say the blues aren't really your thing. I can only listen to them in small doses, myself. Well, here's a dreamier, poppier selection with lyrical melodies and layered vocals bordering on shoegaze that you might enjoy. The band is Aster, and they're a duo from Austin, Texas. Listen.
Aster--"Some Things Seldom Heard Of" mp3 off Some Things Seldom Heard Of (buy)
Aster--"Attempting to Multiply" mp3 off Some Things Seldom Heard Of
Lastly, last week when I mentioned Londoner Goodtimes Goodtimes, I noted a show that he was doing in New York next month. Well, he's added two more, so here they are, and here's one more song to convince you that he'd be wonderful to see live. While you're at it, check out this very enlightening, lucid review of his music and background over at obscure sound. It's a good read.

With blues small doses at a time is best, such powerful music.
