Every once in a while I can't come up with the right song to express what I'm feeling. This week, I couldn't find what I wanted for the contrast podcast, so I'm not in it. Let me also say I'm envious of all those who were able to choose a track and contribute this week. If you're envious, too, or just curious, you can go here to download or listen to it.
Sometimes, though, I don't think it's a matter of not being able to find a song, it's that I think a song doesn't exist to give voice to what I'm going through. Have you ever had that happen? Or not happen, I suppose I should say? Kind of makes me wish I could write a song for the occasion. This one comes kind of close to capturing the way I feel at the moment, but even it's not quite right.

Next week's theme for the podcast is "bands with ridiculous names," so hopefully I will have better luck and something will pop right out at me.
This is kind of funny and has nothing to do with envy, although it does have to do with finding things. A while ago, my youngest daughter asked me to help her find one of her toys and I was able to locate it pretty easily. She was impressed because she had been searching for it to no avail. So I told her the old Roseanne Barr joke about why men always ask women to find things, which is because they think a woman has a tracking device in her uterus. She was like, really? Then how come I couldn't find it? And I said, Well, yours just isn't developed enough yet. She liked that explanation.
So yesterday, she was searching high and low for her DS and after she hunted through practically the whole car, I lifted the back seat up and lo and behold, there it was. She stood there for a moment, amazed, and then pointed at her stomach and said in a very quiet voice, It must have been this that helped you find it.

How old is your daughter? I'm not sure if I'm really impressed that you can
talk about your respective utera or weirded out. Great story, though. :)
I must have one of those homing devices somewhere because I'm quite often
the 'finder' in our house.
Love that Teitur track, it just shuffled up on my iPod for the first time
today. I want to find out more...
james--she's 8, so she's semi-aware of things. and don't be too weirded
out. all women can talk about their uteri. that's what we do when we go to
the bathroom in pairs . . . ;-)
Weird band names - How about Madame Blavatsky Overdrive? Can't get much
weirder than that!
well that is a pretty ridiculous name! i still haven't made a choice, so
maybe i'll search some of their stuff out. on second thought, you should
contribute it to the podcast! :)
Was thinking I should contribute too - never have before, little bit put
off by the fact that I have to do an intro as well, but I'm sure I can
manage it!
