Feline Facts and the Contrast Podcast

posted Tuesday, 2 June 2009

Here's a freaky fact: did you know that if people's eyes were proportionately as large in their face as a cat's, they'd be 8 inches in diameter? Apparently cats have larger eyes in relation to the size of their heads than any other mammal. For more factoids, check out this article, which has lots of other cool information about cats.

So here's another fun fact: did you know that the theme for this week's contrast podcast is "cats and kittens"? I chose a catchy song by Swedish group The LK (formerly known as The Lovekevins) called "Private Life of a Cat." OK, I confess, my youngest daughter actually picked the song because I was having a hard time choosing one, but I think she did all right, don't you? You can listen to the podcast here.

However, in the interest of tying my feline facts together, I couldn't resist including this Guillemots song even though I didn't submit it this week.

Next week's theme will be "home," home sweet home.

p.s. Yes, that's our little Lola. I can't believe how fast she's growing. And just look at those eyes!

She's ADORABLE!!

Did you know the human head weighs 8 lbs? (sorry, could not resist the Jerry Maguire reference after your factoid!)

Marcy-- My cats and I appreciate your theme selection! Today I found that I actually have a song by Cats and Cats and Cats called "Happiness For Lola" which I have posted today in honor of your little darling. Your Lola has the most beautiful tabby pattern, and she looks like she's a smart cat.

One of the ways you can tell a smart cat is they get into trouble. My Pie regularly prowls the kitchen counters looking for objects she thinks might be good toys. I once found a tomato on the living room floor. It was punctured with a million tiny holes from her claws.

lol! i LOVE that you said she looks like a smart cat--i think she really is! thank you for posting that happiness for lola song--i posted it, too!

she's really a funny cat. she has this long ribbon that she carries around in her mouth and then plays with as she drags it behind her. she entertains herself very effectively, although so far i havent' found any errant tomatoes!

i take it this means you're home from your trip. i hope you're not too jet-lagged!

all mp3s are for sampling purposes only. you like it? you buy it. you want me to take it down? let me know. and for the uninitiated, if you wish to listen to a song, click on the little blue arrows and they will stream. thanks, your host and music lover, mjrc.
