just fyi, I love Joanna Newsom, but the reason she gets a record contract
is because a LOT of people love her music. That's why her last album made
it into the top 50 records of the last 20 years in both Spin Magazine and
Pitchfork Media. That's why she's one of the most blogged about artists on
the internet. welcome to the minority, I suppose.
oh, i know other people like her. i just have a thing about vocals, and if
i can't tolerate them, then i can't listen to the music. i don't
particularly like springsteen for the same reason. i know i'm definitely in
the minority there. :)
Jamie Lidell RULES. Science fact.
Hi Marcy! Pix can be fun, but on the other hand, you've drawn a lot of fans
just based on your taste in music and there may be something to finding a
niche that works for you.
p.s. I agree w/you re: JN. You know who I always want her to be is Jonatha
Brooke
simon--science fact indeed! fraser--glad someone else agrees with me about
j.n. i like jonatha brooke much better. way back when, she was in a group
called the story, and they had some beautiful songs. and thanks for the
input about the site. i'm probably too lazy to bother with pics, anyway, so
maybe it's just as well.
And I agree with you on Springsteen. Never could get into either the music
or the vocals. Argh! Heresy! I can hear the lynch mob coming...
fil--you are way more technically savvy than i am! nonetheless, i will take
your comments under advisement. the best thing i can say about bruce is
that he puts on a really great show, i will give him that. : )
Hmm... Don't know JN, but I did like Jonatha Brooke for a while - until she
started sounding whiney, as if she were complaining all the time! This was
after The Story broke up. Saw her in Annapolis a few years ago and just
felt like I was hearing the same story over and over again. Same is true
for Amy Rigby, who I initially liked and then realized all her songs were
basically about being taken advantage of in a relationship and being
dumped/heartbroken.
MJRC, with regard to the format of the blog, etc., I like the change. It
is easier to read. Now, is there a way I can get rid of that pop-up every
time I post? Or is that just a feature of blog-city? I also like the
background image, but it does leave you a bit limited on your color scheme.
we should form a club of some sort, "people who are brave enough to admit
they never cared for the boss." think of all the souls out there waiting to
be liberated from that particular circle of hell. ha!
