Interesting theme this week on the
Contrast Podcast. We were to pick "a song I like by a band I don't." It wasn't too hard for me, I confess. I came up with one right away.
I think I'm hooked on this podcast thing, though. In fact, last week I submitted my selection the same day the previous podcast came out. I don't think I'll be so quick this coming week, however. The next theme is "music to watch ghouls by," which may take some thought on my part.
You can listen to the podcast
here. You can find my selection at the very end of the mix, and you can pick up a copy of it
here. And if you're interested in what I really think about the artist in question,
read this.
You know when you go to a conference or some other large group meeting and someone gets up and says, "
Now for a few housekeeping details" and it's mainly useful information like what time the potty breaks will be and whether there are vegetarian meals available? Well, this is one of those announcements.
Soon, very soon (perhaps by Nov. 1st), my filehosting service, the esteemed ezarchive, will be completing a major upgrade in service. This is good news, as it has been plagued by periodic downtime and problems and this should fix those. However, and this is the big news, they are changing the way they do things and I will have to manually switch the links to all previously posted songs.
This, my friends, is one MAJOR pain in the rear. I have hundreds of songfiles. Hundreds, I tell you! So the best I'm going to be able to do is keep the last two months' worth up and running. I hope I can do that much before time runs out. See, they haven't yet told us exactly what we have to do, but they have told us that we'll only have a few days to do it before everything goes dead.
It comes down to this:
Get the songs you want while you can, especially anything from before September. I can't promise what will work--from the archives--after Nov. 1st. I wish I could. I'd start making the changes today, but since they aren't being very forthcoming about what needs to be done, I simply can't. I'm also going to run a disclaimer from today forward reminding you about this. Hope that helps.
