Change of Plans

posted Sunday, 24 June 2007

Remember when I was planning my idyllic Caribbean vacation? Well, plans have changed. It's mainly because my husband can't take off the time when we were planning to go, plus some other family factors, so we've had to scrap the trip.

However, we're going to compensate for it by going camping near Niagara Falls. That's a fair trade, wouldn't you say? *sigh*

Actually, it will be fine, as long as it doesn't rain. I really don't like to camp in the rain. And as long as there aren't massive amounts of bugs. Insects + me = cranky camper. Do you think there's any way I can arrange for these two things to go my way?

Ohh camping is a fun time indeed...Once every 2 years or so. hehehe But I think it will be lovely and blue skies the whole time. You guys can go hiking and eat smores and listen to bands like Bedroom Walls. :-) Now I want to go camping and I don't even like camping!

Here in the Northwest camping with rain is de rigueur... not that it's fun or anything.

BtW I never realized how pretty the Bedroom Walls were. They are from LA and remind me a litlle yet not quite enough of the Meeting Places (also from LA).

Nice choice

Just don't use something with a lot of deet. It gave me the shakes the last time I used it. Normally I use natural spray thingy's but there were absolute clouds of mosquitoes and I caved in to the chemicals.

The rain is alright if you have a decent tarp, a good book and yummy snacks.

juan--aren't they a lovely band? very relaxing. i like to put their stuff on sleep mixes. re: the rain--do you ever get used to it? : )

jag--i know what you mean about the deet--i hate to use it. but i'm pretty hopeful that the bugs won't be an issue. the campground is on the shores of lake ontario, so i'm crossing my fingers. : )

Loud music. Lots of f-off, rammy, screamy, thudding, geetar-screech loud music. Keeps all bugs away, as they're all Celine Dion / Michael Bolton fans. It's true. And it doesn't give you DEET shakes, though it'll make you twitch in other, more pleasant, ways...
