I take it no one could be arsed to read through all the waffle yesterday, eh?* Oh I kid, I kid my loyal readers. I know I was a bit long-winded, when all I really had to say was, This album is fan-fucking-tastic! The thing is, I needed to write about it for myself.
So today's is short and sweet. I'm really digging The New Pornographers' most recent release, Challengers. And aside from "Myriad Harbour" and "My Rights Versus Yours," my favorite song is "Adventures in Solitude." It gets me every time: "We thought we lost you / We thought we lost you / We thought we lost you / Welcome back."
The New Pornographers--"Adventures in Solitude" mp3 off Challengers (buy) Alas this, too, will only be up for a short while.
*I've been dying to use that phrase ever since I read it over at music like dirt, ages ago.
Which phrase, Marcy?
"arsed to read through all the waffle." i love that. and yes, i know i'm
taking a chance here. i'm curious to see if the web sherriff comes a
calling. should we place bets? ;-)
A web cop has never come around asking me to remove anything, so I guess
either I post stuff nobody give a rat's arse about, or I post things
well-past their freshness date!
i've not been visited by the w.s. yet either, so this is kind of a test
(but don't tell anyone). i didn't expect to like this as much as i do,
actually. i find it's more varied than twin cinema, and it's really growing
on me. give it another try. : )
Yeah I am with Nat the album as a whole was kind of a disappointment but
there a few tracks that I loved. "Adventures in Solitude" is indeed one of
them.
nice, mellow and interesting: very pretty I think. Again, the male voice
dominating and the female coming in late angelically.
rachel--i suppose a few songs to love are better than none. : )
I can always be arsed to read your waffle! Takes me a while to get around
to commenting on it though.
