Now this qualifies as an event in my neck of the woods. The Black Angels are coming to my local record store Sun. 11/5 for a free in-store performance--how cool is that? I'm excited about it and I don't even listen to their music--at least, not yet. Their myspace says their sound is "psychedelic / folk rock / experimental" and I would agree. It's a bit harder than what I generally get into, but it's got an edge that might be just the thing to get you riled up when you need some fire in your belly, like on election day, perhaps?
They have an intense and politically charged video out right now for their song "The First Vietnamese War." Word of warning, it's pretty graphic. The Black Angels are opening for The Black Keys in Philly Sat. 11/4 at the Electric Factory.
