The other day I mentioned I'd be picking up some cds, namely The Dandy Warhols, Fleet Foxes and Matthew Dear. Guess which one has got me completely captivated? Yep, it's Matthew Dear. I haven't even been able to really listen to the other two because Asa Breed Black Edition has been stuck on constant repeat.
You may have heard his music described as minimal electronic pop and techno, but it's so much warmer than that makes it sound. His vocals are rich and sexy deep and the guitars and other instruments couch the electronic sounds in a comfortable cushion that makes you want to move your body.
The songs are also much more varied than you might imagine. I mean, it's possible you're saying to yourself, Well, I like this song but could I listen to an entire album of this stuff? The answer is, Yes, you could! I can't get enough of it. (See here for the track that got me hooked in the first place.)
I promise to get to the other stuff soon, but I'm afraid I'm going to be obsessing on Mr. Dear for a while.
Matthew Dear--"Deserter" mp3 off Asa Breed Black Edition (buy)
He has a song on the compilation album Ghostly Swim put out by the label Ghostly International which you can download for free right here. It's looks like a great mix.

I'm not so sure about that! LOL. I tend to shy from the electronic most of
the time. I did like Goldfrapp's "Seventh Tree," though, and I have
enjoyed Air from time to time.
i think you should try it--you might like it! i love his voice especially.
:)
I'll give it a go, as I've always found your musical taste impeccable, but
I've not liked what I've heard from Dear thus far. Sometimes you have to
listen with open ears.
