I'm not all that into the Olympics this year, but my youngest daughter totally is. She was fascinated by the opening ceremonies. She came home from her friend's house where she'd been watching them and burst into the room saying, "Turn it to channel 10! The Olympics are on!!"
I enjoy the Olympics but after about a week I've pretty much had my fill. I love the swimming and the gymnastics and some of the track and field, but honestly I tend to OD on coverage during the first week and then I'm ready for it to be over.
In recognition of the events, however, this week's contrast podcast theme is "Sport." I did not contribute as I couldn't come up with a suitable song, but that doesn't mean I won't be an enthusiastic fan and cheer the rest of them on. You can listen to it here. Next week we're on to the last of the seven deadly sins, which would be "Wrath." If you've been wanting to take part but haven't until now, this is your chance. If you don't, you might end up being angry at yourself, and we all know that's no good!

So have you seen the synchronized diving? Now that was cool. Of course, whenever I think of synchronized swimming I think of Martin Short and Harry Shearer . . . yes, I'm forever warped by these images.
And another thing : beach volleyball - what's all that about??
hmm, i think that's mostly about eye candy . . . even president bush enjoys
it!
Beach volleyball...totally not an Olympic sport. And what's with the
incessant need to play crap music in between each point? Ugh. And Marcy,
don't think I didn't notice that thinly veiled hint to participate in the
Contrast Podcast! It'll all come down to the voice recording - not so much
my dodgy voice, it'll be the actually recording and putting the thing
together. I shall do my best!
wot? me thinly veil a hint? ;-) you know, the first time i ever
contributed, fil actually walked me through the entire recording process.
i'm sure he or tim would do the same for you if you have any questions. and
i mean he told me exactly what to click and how to save it and everything.
i was pretty clueless! and you don't have to put the song and the intro
together. i always send the mp3 separately from the intro.
Ah I was worried about putting the intro and the song together...had no
idea how I was going to tackle that one. Feeling better about it already!
Thanks!
He walked you through it? I should have asked. I experimented and futzed
until I had a recording, but it was muddy. I've learned a bit since then.
Dearest Nats - Indeed, it'd be way more equitable if the male beach
volleyballers had to wear posing pouches or something...
Thanks for the offer FiL - don't be at ALL surprised if I do!
I had totally forgotten about that old synchronized swimming clip.
Classic!!
