I'm not sure what this means for me in terms of taking a rest from the blog, but when I heard this song it blew me away, so I thought it might be a good one with which to break the silence. It actually sent chills down my spine, especially when the woman begins to sing. The combination of the drums and her voice (which reminds me a bit of a slightly unhinged female Antony Hegarty) is very stirring.

I've been trying to analyze what it is that's preventing me from wanting to write about music and I think it's because I'm not in an easily accessible place emotionally. So many songs are about girl loves boy, girl loses boy, girl is sad ever after, and I'm just not in that frame of mind right now. Those kinds of songs are simply not speaking to me. In fact, it's not just romantic songs that are missing the mark. I'm not finding a whole lot of tunes on any topic that are talking my language.
Maybe I need to find some good instrumental music. That's always been a challenge for me, mainly because I'm such a lyrics person, but if that's what it's going to take to get me out of this musical funk, then I might have to go there. Either that or broaden my horizons some other way.
Anyway, this song moved me enough to make me want to share it, so that's a step in the right direction.
Marcy....I've also been struggling a bit in recent weeks.
I too have been struggling a little since I got back - think it's the cold
winter-ness perhaps! It's not the greatest motivator. Still, I'll push on
through. I think when you've been doing this for a while - or doing
anything for a while - you're bound to have your quiet moments.
jc--i'd just read that you were feeling the same way over at agnes's blog!
we're a motley crew, aren't we? ;-)
Well, you guys in your dry spells are still posting much more frequently
than I do at my normal pace :). And thank goodness too, where would I be
without you all?
lol! that's funny, greer. i suppose it's all a matter of perspective! :)
I agree with JC it must be in the summer air. You know what I did? I just
started looking back and checking out stuff I missed. That was fun, you may
find some inspiring stuff.
rachel--lola is the least-attention-starved cat alive, i think! i could
play with him all day. unfortunately, i can't blog about him every day! :)
My stats took a big dive while I was away and not posting very often -
they're almost back to what they were but have been a little skewed because
of that. Most of my readers are in the northern hemisphere too I think, but
there are a few locals that stop by on a regular basis so that's nice too.
I just wish more people commented so that I knew who they were! Though I'm
not the biggest commenter myself so I'm not one to talk!
